Offerings such as this wonderful combination are rarely seen or available to the collecting public. The olla contained this ball of yucca yarn and was covered with the cup. The olla (9" x 7.5") and the cup (whole, 6") are Kayenta; the contents that were with it is a LARGE ball of yarn (6+", over 100 feet long). It was found in a cave by Zack Tillery of Aspen Colorado maybe 5-7 years ago. The cup acted as the lid and protected the contents perfectly. He split the items up and sold them individually.....I located them with help and put it back together.

Please note the ORIGINAL yucca tie on the side; this was done OVER 800 YEARS AGO to secure a small crack so that it would not open further therefore rendering the olla useless. Because the tie is made from organic material and is subject to decay, they rarely survived. Also note the small hole...when found this hole was filled with what appears to be pine pitch. The material has been preserved and is contained in aluminum foil which is inside the olla.

One cannot overstate the rarity of an item like this....noting that it is perfect original condition.

This Pinedale black and white olla, measuring 9”+, has two wonderful images of mountain lions on the rim, something virtually never seen during this period of prehistoric pottery production. The olla is broken and glued with about 8% restoration, a tiny bit affecting only a portion of the tail of one mountain lion. I rarely will handle an item with restoration unless it has significant rarity…, which this one does. This is a nice example for the collector that collects life forms or the out-of-the-ordinary examples.

This is a beautiful and striking Four Mile Polychrome bowl assembled from just three pieces; a small chip on the rim. The bowl measures 9.25” in diameter and 3.25” deep and exhibits very strong bold paint that is ALL original. There is no restoration of any type. The image is intriguing as that of an abstract animal with four obvious legs and feet. This bowl sold in the 1980s to a prominent Aspen Colorado collector for $7,500.00…. I recently purchased this as part of a small group of items and I am able to offer it at a very aggressive and fair price. This is one that should not last long!

Length is a little over 11.5 inches….an opportunity for the collector that demands only the very best.

SOLD!

This is a very rare, all original, Anasazi hafted knife measuring 9” long and 2.5” wide at the widest point of the blade. The blade is held in the handle by pitch, some of which has broken away leaving a clear patina pattern on the wood. This assures that the entire piece is original. At the end of the handle is a hole with the original leather lariat still attached.

THIS ITEM HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY TWO DIFFERENT EXPERTS OF SOUTHWESTERN ANTIQUITIES. Examples of intact Anasazi knives are exceedingly rare.

SOLD FEBRUARY 27, 2008

Two uranium miners west of grants New Mexico found this incredibly rare Socorro effigy in 1960 while searching small cave on their lunch break. After that, it sat on the mantle of one of them until I purchased it in late November 2003. Nothing could have been done better by it’s creator…the form and artwork are simply perfect. There is even a wonderful image of a humann on the handle. It is 100% original, intact, no restoration and not even cleaned. This is the best “original find” effigy to come on the market in well over a decade, maybe more. One extremely knowledgeable dealer in the business for 30 years stated that it may be the largest intact effigy he has ever seen (9.5” tall and 9.25” long). Very serious inquires are encouraged.
