Description: A Longquan water coupe was in decent round shape. When in unique mustard green glaze, the surface was decorated on two sides with imprint of floral motifs. The motifs were well rendered in wonderful and vibrant form. The coupe was stand by shallow foot ring. The body clay revealed at the foot ring was in greasy-feel quality and was covered with burial adhesives. On the surface, the ware was covered with foggy-look Baojiang( burial adhesives) inside and outside. The glaze surface was therefore reflected with retrospective and subdued sheen. Date: Southern Song to Yuan periods, 12th/13th century. Body Width: 7.5cm, Height: 5.4cm |
