Description: A rare wood sculpture from minority people of south western China was in ancient and mysterious mood. By unknown metaphor of a Knight riding on a catfish amid the swirling water, the wood carving piece was well rendered by excellent workmanship. In the water, there're tailing fishes and a crawling lizard. The wood piece was in very old look of soft quality and also with cracks yielded at the bottom. The right arm of the knight was broken and missing due to age. Date: 10th-12th century. Height: 33.3cm. |
