A wooden Guan-Yin figure was fabulously carved from one solid of camphor wood.
By a stylized sitting posture, the holy deity was depicted nicely in a image of a noble lady.
With fantastic skills, the craftsmen carved the wooden piece fluently in depicting the details.
For examples, the softness of the torso, the flouring robe, the benign facial expression and the relaxing and leaning posture, all are the ingredients that made her an excellent religious piece of art in Chinese traditional sculptures.
The uniqueness of the beautiful figure was extraordinary never the less the contrasting colours was reinforced by my poor photography.
In real viewing circumstances, the faded pigments add more in the feel of the enduring age.
Date Early Qing period(17th/18th century),
Condition: Perfect except the faded pigment and minor restoration at the base.
A custom-made silk box is included.
