Eight late 19th Century, Victorian miniature watercolors, four depicting the S.S. Sardinian including a storm at sea and the remainder various English and Scottish coastal and inland scenes: Iona, Bloxham and the Thames. Watercolor and pencil on paperboard. THIS IS A BEAUTIFULLY FRAMED SELECTION OF ZENGA (OR ZEN STYLE) SUMI ink SKETCHES, the work of an unidentified Zen painter. The sketchbook paintings on rice paper were mounted on five traditional, black-edged shi-shi cards. The elaborate framing was done probably sometime in the early 20th century.
