Also on the back at the top in script is written Fa??s and under that printed in capitals, CA??DA. The number 108 stamped in a circle is also on the back. Height is 16.5" Base is 5" in diameter.
Pair of music manuscripts, probably from a 17th century antiphonal, handpainted on vellum for Franciscan monastic use. Five line musical staff in red with black (faded to brown) square neums or notes and text in Latin. Two large initials and rubrics in red. Ebonized wood frame with some dings in the form of a diptych with hinges connecting the two pages; glass covered on both sides of each page, so that 4 sides are visible. Silver metal container for holy water carried by a priest or acolyte during the asperges. Architectural style with acorns, animal heads and a nicely detailed handle. Bucket still has its insert with remains of old paint. With handle up, height is 14" Diameter of bucket opening is 8"
18th century carved wooden allegorical figure of Winter, possibly French: An old man with a long beard warms himself over the fire at his feet. Condition very good except for a few nicks and white marks. Height is 9.5"
18th century Continental carved wood statue of a bishop saint clothed in alb, stole, cope and miter with traces of gilding and polychrome. Some losses to the nose, fingers, feet and miter. Both hands are separate pieces. Height is 17.5"
Holy water font or benitier from France, made of bronze with a nice patina. On the panel above the font the scene of the Annunciation to Mary by the angel Gabriel holding a lily of the birth of Jesus, above it all is the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. On the cover for the font is the Nativity of Jesus with Mary and Joseph and the ox and ass. Length is 6.25" Depth is 2"
Bronze statue of naked man bearing a sword with a headband, signed Rudolf Marcuse (1878-1929) on a yellow marble base. Foundry is H Gladenbeck and Sohn, founded in 1851, bankrupt in 1926. Condition is excellent. Total height is 9.5" Base is 5.5" x 2.5"
