An ingenious and decorative nutcracker with a pine handle and a shiny mahogany bowl. The nut holder is metal with ridges and operates just fine by a little pressure downwards on the handle which pushes in the arm with the ridges. The bowl catches the nutshells. The bottom is covered in worn green felt. The diameter of the bowl is 8" The height of the handle from the table is 7"

Hand tooled leather box probably from Italy about 1900. On the cover,5 young children with wings, angels or cherubim, dressed in Roman tunics, pose and dance, one with primitive cymbals. Each has its own little frame. The sides of the box are leather decorated with a floral frieze. The inside of the box is a stained and varnished wood. Size is 6" x 4" x 2" Condition is very good with some wear to the bottom corners (see pic #2)

Interesting carved wooden box made from old stained oak fragments originally part of a gothic piece of furniture. Three sides have towers with crosses pierced through. There are also circles and trefoils with crosses that go right through to the inside of the box. The top is nicely carved with a floral/leave design. Both the top and bottom are finished off with crenellations as on a castle. From the inside it looks like the box was constructed sometime around 1910. Size is 11" wide by ...click for details
