19th century Grand Tour figure of the Roman god, Mercury, or in the Greek, Hermes, with winged feet and helmet holding a sword and shield. He balances on one foot on a black metal column with gilt metal base and cap. On the cap are the symbols of the caduceus, a staff with intertwined snakes, a star and a cornucopia or horn of plenty. The figure is painted black with traces of gold showing through. Total height of the base and statue is 16" The base is 4.5" square.

Late 19th century bronze statue of a Greek philosopher holding a pen and reclining with a scroll with the phrase in French: La bonheur nait de la vertu. Happiness is born of virtue. The figure sits on an oval wooden base with feet which measures 22" x 10" and probably had a glass dome over it originally. Height of figure on the base is 15" Condition is excellent. A silver metal or white metal statue of a child dancing with a tambourine, probably a gas fixture or lamp in another life. The base has 2 old pipe connections, and the figure itself has a small hole in the head (see last picture). Condition is good with some minor loss of the patina. The statue is connected to the base by a small screw which allows it to lean in various ways. Height is 10.25"
