Beautiful parian statue of a long-haired and bearded Saint John the Baptist, barefoot and wearing a short tunic of animal skin. A scallop shell for baptising hangs at his hip from a leather strap which crosses his chest. Condition is good except for a fine crack in the hair on his left shoulder. There are two marks which are hard to make out: one stamped into the bisque base on the back near the bottom - Enerek or Enevel; the other is the number 2 stamped into the porcelain bottom and the let ...click for details
Stylized figural metal incense boat or lidded container for incense in the shape of a swan, used in Catholic liturgy to hold the incense before it is burnt in a thurible or censer. Head, neck and feathers of swan are nicely detailed. Patina of the metal is an aged bronze look, although I am not certain is this is white metal, bronze or a dirty pewter. Under the base on the edge is stamped in ink the number 624. Cast in the metal in the middle is a figure (not sure if man or woman) with arms ...click for details
Lovely and delicate antique scapular made of ivory colored satin with crocheted edges. The letters J for Jesus and M for Mary surrounded by roses are hand-painted on each square medallion. The squares are backed with the traditional dark brown cloth. Each medallion has a cover or purse with a button made of the same ivory satin with crocheted edges. These scapulars are worn by the Catholic faithful to fulfill a promise made by our Lady of Mt Carmel to the Carmelite friar Saint Simon Stock. ...click for details

A Grand Tour copy from Florence, Italy, circa 1890, of an angel blowing a trumpet by Fra Angelico in oil painted on wood with a gilt background in a gilded wood Gothic frame. The angel is garbed in dark gray vestments with gold stars and edging. His tunic splits at his feet to reveal bright red and blue undergarments. His wings are gold with blood red droplets. His trumpet is short, more of an English horn than a trombone. Around his head is a halo incised into the gilt wood. Condition of p ...click for details
A Grand Tour copy from Florence, Italy, of an angel blowing a trumpet by Fra Angelico; oil painted on wood with a gilt background in a gilded wood Gothic frame with 4 twisted columns in the baroque style of Bernini. Bronze sculpture depicting Saint Christopher knee-deep in water, and true to his name of Christ bearer, carrying a child on his shoulders. Size is 14" x 7.5" Condition is excellent, although there is some oxidation at the bottom. Someone has taped a piece of paper on the back that says Signature with an arrow, but I cannot make anything out.
Beautifully carved wood figure of a crowned Virgin Mary holding a flowering sceptre in one hand and in the other, balanced on her hip, the child Jesus. The child has an old man face typical of medieval figures. On the bottom are the sculptor's initials, PL or PV, with a date of 81. I am assuming this is 1881 because of the neo-gothic style of this carving, so popular in the late 19th century during the Gothic Revival. Height is 23" Size of base is 6" x 4" Condition is ex ...click for details
