A pair of oil paintings on light board or heavy paper showing sailing vessels with a crew wearing Chinese hairstyles and clothing. The full-blown sails are beautifully painted; one has Chinese characters. Condition of the paintings is good except for some white scratch marks especially on the dark cloud of one and the waves of both. Frames are a maple veneer and appear very old with some splitting and loss of the veneer. Size of the frames is 15" x 12" x 1"

Beautiful oil painting on copper of a female saint wearing a crown and medieval style cloak and dress, holding in her right hand the palm of martyrdom and taking an arrow from an angel in her left hand. Her bodice is fastened with a clasp in the shape of cherub with wings. This is probably Saint Ursula, the patron saint of young girls and teachers. The frame is ebonized wood: 13.5" x 15" x 2" thick.
