This original drawing of the fin-de-siecle French cabaret Moulin Rouge by Red Grooms is marker on tracing paper and measures 26-1/2 x 39 inches, sight size, and 37 x 49 inches in archival blond wood frame. Built in 1889 in the red light district of Pigalle in Paris, the Moulin Royuge was the spiritual birthplace of the can-can. Theo (Theodore ) Shoudy (American, b. 1881 Brooklyn, NY), the Hudson River Valley Impressionist, painted and signed this great oil on board fall scene circa 1946.
