This charming nineteenth-century oil on canvas portrait of a child trailing a chain of roses and pansies exemplifies the best of the English School. Extremely well done, the child has a cherubic face and is placed in a landscape, with nice details like the lace-collared dress, coral beads, flowers, and the almost turbulent sky.
