2 NEW STERLING SILVER MINT JULEP CUPS/NO MONO
These brand new sterling silver mint julep cups are fresh from an estate and don't appear to have ever been used. Absolutely classic, they have a flat bottom, a molded lip with an etched line beneath it and on the bottom. You couldn't find a cleaner design. Stamped Sterling on the bottom, each cup measures 3-4/8 inches in height, 3-1/16 inches in diameter at the rim and 2-3/8 inches in diameter at the base. Each cup weighs 3.98 troy ounces. The cups are not monogrammed. They are available for $175 apiece. The julep cup has a great Kentucky association. The popularity of the beaker form in Kentucky, where it is regionally called a julep cup, is partially accounted for as a symbol of a time before the Civil War----a time of romantic gentility, relaxed wealth and graciousness, an era when a man’s breeding was reflected in his manners and hospitality.
