A striking necklace with three suspended mixed metals pendants by Winifred Mason Chenet, who was an African American woman hand crafting jewelry in Greenwich Village. She reportedly worked with and trained Art Smith, a well respected African American modernist jeweler.
This necklace is made of copper with brass overlays and connections of copper rivets and wire. Measures 15" long and closes securely with a hook clasp. The pendants are 1 1/2" wide and 1 5/8" high. Signed with her stylized 'cheneT d'Haiti'. Has some tarnish.
