Extremely rare complete set (five books in their original bindings) of Konan Tanigami's "Seiyo Kusabana Zufu" (Illustrated Books of Western Flowers), with 25 original botanical woodblock prints per book--125 woodblocks total. Antique Kirghiz wedding chain-stitch embroidery on black velvet, in the traditional format (3 embroidered borders surrounding a central silk ikat panel). This type of textile was used as ornament for the tent or yurt. This particular example measures 55" by 131", and is in generally good condition--minor restoration would help but is not imperative. Late nineteenth or early twentieth century.
