Original watercolor, gouache, and ink Southern European landscape by well-known Swiss artist Ignaz Epper (1892-1969). This beautiful work measures roughly 16" by 20" in its frame. It is signed l.r. and dated 1955. Ignaz Epper is a major Swiss artist who produced a series of Southern European landscapes very much like this one in the mid-century period. Very well listed, exhibited, and represented in museums and collections, and with impressive auction records.

From the estate of the artist. Robert Lohman is known as a sculptor and painter. He studied at the John Herron Art Institute, at Cranbrook under Carl Milles, and at Yale. He was director of Fine Arts at Cranbrook between 1947 and 1949. He is well listed, exhibited, and collected.
