Large original sculpture by Lillian Bernstein (American, 1928-1992), modeled, not cast, in what appears to be plaster of Paris with a bronze painted finish. Circa 1950-1960. This impressive work stands 24 1/2" high--26" including the hardwood base, original to the piece, which bears a brass plaque with the name of the sculptor and the title of the piece, "Mother and Child".
