Large original sculpture by Lillian Bernstein (American, 1928-1992), modeled, not cast, in what appears to be plaster of Paris with a bronze painted finish. Circa 1950-1960. This impressive work stands 24 1/2" high--26" including the hardwood base, original to the piece, which bears a brass plaque with the name of the sculptor and the title of the piece, "Mother and Child". Original and early ceramic sculpture by Dorothy Elaine Robbins (American-Israeli/ 1920-1999), circa 1950, in excellent condition. This sculpture has an incised signature. It measures 17" by 13" by 9" base not included. Ohio born Robbins studied at Cranbrook and at the Cincinnati Academy of Art. She taught ceramic sculpture at the Cincinnati Art Museum between 1948 and 1950.
