Original engraving on copper by Wendell H. Black (American, 1919-1972), first edition (posthumously printed by Berkley Chappell, and signed by Elaine Black). In excellent unframed original condition, titled and numbered 7/25 l.l. Wendell Black never produced an edition of this work during his lifetime and the plates were rediscovered and printed after his death by Berkley Chappell. This work measures 7 3/4" by 13 1/2 ". cf. "Quelques aventures de Maitre Renard" is a book illustrated by 14 original copper engravings by Joseph Hecht (Polish/French/1891-1951). The work, published by "La jeune gravure contemporaine" dates from 1950 and is probably Hecht's last completed work.
