| Original oil painting on masonite panel by Harry Shoulberg (American, 1903-1995). The painting measures 18" by 24" and is currently in search of a suitable period frame. Signed "Shoulberg" l.l. in red, and titled "Back Street" in pencil verso. Circa 1940-1950, and in excellent condition. Harry Shoulberg is an important American Expressionist painter who participated in the WPA program and was a pioneer of the use of the silk-screen (serigraphy) process. One of three works by this artist currently available. Shoulberg is extremely well listed, and represented in a number of important institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Baltimore Museum, the Carnegie Institute, the Denver Art Museum, the Tel Aviv Museum,etc. | |
