| Large original sculpture by Lillian Bernstein (American, 1928-1992), modeled, not cast, in what appears to be plaster of Paris with a bronze painted finish. Circa 1950-1960. This impressive work stands 24 1/2" high--26" including the hardwood base, original to the piece, which bears a brass plaque with the name of the sculptor and the title of the piece, "Mother and Child". Lillian Bernstein was born in Boston and lived in Wellesley. She is known as a poet and a sculptor. She is the author of "The Sound of Sculpture", an anthology of poems and sculpture, published in 1988 | |
