| Large early original charcoal drawing by Elizabeth Osborne (American, Pennsylvania, born 1936). This work is signed "Osborne" and dated "66" l.r. It measures 32" by 26" in its original frame. Originally purchased from the Socrates Perakis Gallery in 1967 (Osborne's earliest solo shows were at the Perakis Gallery, in 64 and later 67). This work is one of a group of five by various Philadelphia artists purchased in the sixties from the Perakis Gallery which we are currently offering on this website (the others are by Joseph Amarotico, Johnny Aiello, and Socrates Perakis himself). Elizabeth Osborne is a major contemporary American artist. She studied at PAFA with Franklin Watkins and Hobson Pittman, and in France on a Fulbright. In 1963 she became the 3rd woman ever to join the faculty at PAFA. Extremely well listed, exhibited, and collected (Although the Perakis Gallery tag is now missing, the provenance was graciously confirmed by the artist herself). | |
