Amusing Art Deco marble and cold painted brass figures depicting a sailor serenading his sweetheart who stands below a clock holding a bunch of roses, made circa 1930. The girl measures approximately 17 cm high and the sailor 14.5 cm high. I do not know where they where made but they remind me of the humour found in the work of Hagenauer. Wonderful set of ten French Art Deco silver plated knife rest in the form of various creatures, made circa 1930. The set consists of lobster, seal, lion, dove, elephant, eagle, fish, peacock, monkey and grasshopper.
They measures approximately 9 cm long. The condition is excellent with no damage or repairs. The silver plate has a few marks and minor wear consistent with their age. Stylish pair of Art Nouveau pewter twin branch candlesticks, made circa 1900. The triform section bases are decorated with stylized berries and sinuous lines. They measure at their highest approximately 26 cm high. They appear to be unmarked but we think the country of origin was Germany. The photographs show the candlesticks from both sides. English Arts and Crafts copper vase by John Williams circa 1900. The twin handled vase is repousse decorated with large artichokes and their leaves. It measures 28 cm high. The condition is good with only only small split to one handle and the usual minor knocks and dents, please see last photograph where I have indicated the split with an arrow. Please see page 16 of the book ‘Newlyn Copper’ by Daryl Bennett and Colin Pill for an example of a John Williams vase of the same form.
