This depiction of Saint Lucy of Syracuse is unmistakable with the symbolic eyes seen on the plate in her left hand. The reflection of our flash accentuates the profuse cracquelure which is present but not as prominent as a flash typically presents. The old unsigned canvas is laid down on artist board. There has been some restoration, primarily to hands. 17th century. Sight size: 14 1/2" x 11 3/4". (add 3/4" for the mat and 2 1/2" for the modern frame.)
