Early Edo period (1800-1825) traditional folk art pottery horse eye plate from Japan. Heavily potted, this piece is a fine example of the classic design, featuring a ring of tightly executed circular "eyes" in brown glaze against a beige ground. Size/Condition: Measures a substantial 13.75" in diameter and is in excellent vintage condition with a few tiny glaze flakes from the outer rim edge, no chips or cracks. Unmarked, undated.

Fabulously ornate piece of Mexican pottery that we believe was made around 1930 (+/-). The vase is a classic example of the fine talavera pottery of its time. Similar to Uriarte, this piece is thrown, using a slightly orange-tan clay base, and is replete with an intricate, hand painted design that covers the entire surface.
