This finely carved figure,known universally as the Laughing Buddha, Budai(meaning "cloth bag")is represented as a Buddhist monk,and is characteristically portrayed as bald,laughing and obese,is seen leaning on a large sack of treasure and holding a strand of beads or rosary in his right hand.
