A superb,early 19thC Chinese bamboo carving
depecting Lao Tzu riding on top of the ox.
It is finely carved from a single bamboo root
and exhibits a fine,soft patina acquired over the many
years of handling&usage.The exquisitely detailed
carving of Lao Tzu's robe,basket and "rice
patty"hat are really incredible works of art,as well as the ox figure carving itself.The condition of the piece is perfect.
Circa:Qing Dynasty,Daoguang Period.(1821-1850)Size:8 1/4"high.

This wonderful carving out of a single piece
of bamboo shows the fine craftmanship of the Chinese wood carvers.The details of the fishing nets,the woven bamboo baskets on the top of the "junk" and the figures themselves are really an incredible piece of wood carving.
The condition is excellent.Circa:1850-1890.
Size:12"in length x 3"in Dia.at middle.
