A beautiful 19th Korean rice cake press,finely carved with a peony flower in full bloom,was used to make an impression on the rice cake dough. The back of the press is cut out so that the hand can easily grip the wooden press.Condition:Excellent. Circa: Choson Dynasty,late 19thC. Size:4 1/2" Dia. x 3/4". A rare and unusual three piece wooden seal in the form of a gourd.The carving is superb as well as the rich patina formed over a period of time.The family characters are under the stem of the first piece and the pad that the seal is pressed on to is on the base or third piece.Please note that on top of the stem portion there are carved family characters.The condition is excellent.Circa: Choson Dynasty,19thC.Size:2 1/4"high.
