The vase is worked in silver wire and musen enamel and is 6" tall. Stamped mark of Gonda on bottom of vase. This type of design where you see the egrets reflection in the water is usually done on boxes and rarely seen on vases. This piece is in perfect condition with only some minor pitting. No chips, hairlines, crazing, scratches or restoration. The piece has a very high gloss enamel finish and is worked in standard cloisonne with silver and gilt wires. It is approx. 10 3/4" in length x 1/5/8" high. The plate is very unusual because after the blue background enamel was applied, A THICK COAT OF CLEAR ENAMEL was then put over this and the standard cloisonne was worked on top of this clear coat of enamel. It is approx 2 3/8" in diameter. This box has a lot of characteristics of an early Namikawa. Take a look at the photos and judge for yourself. The box and cover are in great condition but for some pitting which is quite common in these early pieces and a few areas of missing enamel between the end of the round boarder circles and the metal rim on the box cover. THIS IS NOTHING AND I ONLY MENTION THIS FOR ACCURACY. This piece was definitely done by a master craftsman, probably Honda. This high shouldered koro is worked in standard cloisonne. I believe the wires are guilded but I can not tell for sure. The shoulder and lid have a very elaborate butterfly and floral pattern. There are seven beautifully done panels going around the tan speckled ground body. The koro is approx. 4 ¼” high and is in excellent condition with only some minor pitting. The box is probably the work of Honda and is very heavy. The work on this box is incredible and every bit as good as Namikawa Kyoto Jippo pieces. The wires are guilded as is the inside of the box. Size is approx. 3 5/8" X 2 3/4" HIGH. Condition is excellent but for some extremely small and minor stress lines on right side of one panel on lid near the rim. (last photo). The backround body is worked in extremely dense scroll work. Dimensions are 4" tall(to top of finial) x 3 x 1/4" in diameter. Condition is excellent but for a slight abrasion on bottom. Very minor. You can see this in last photo at around 5:00 where green is slightly lighter in color. There is also some minor flaking of green counter enamel on inside bottom. Finial is slightly pushed in on one side. The artist went so far as to cover the top and bottom rims in enamel to achieve the porcelain look. This technique was extremely difficult to do. This vase has six lobbed panel each worked in moriage showing alternating florals and insects in opaque and translucent enamels. This vase has a very high quality of enamel.
