This is a wonderful, contemporary kantha stitched stole, the stitching being done in a thick white cotton and the base cloth being a lovely, champagne colored, hand loomed, very light weight tussar silk. This piece is hand stitched in West Bengal, India, near Calcutta.
The historical kantha stitched textiles from Bangladesh and West Bengal in India are a well-known folk textile art and one of India's most prized textile traditions.
