ca. mid twentieth century 33" x 24", 84 cm x 61 cm This is a pair of momohiki, a kind of traditional, Japanese work trousers: what is unusual about them is that they are made of hand spun, hand woven, indigo dyed katazome cloth which seems to date from the late nineteenth, early twentieth century. ca. early twentieth century 58" x 62", 147.5 cm x 157.5 cm The bold, graphic, centrally placed sashiko stitched "X" of this furoshiki, or wrapping cloth has marvelous visual impact. This cloth has been used as can be seen by the slight unraveling of some of the stitches and by the patc ...click for details

ca. early twentieth century 28 3/4" x 13", 73 cm x 33 cm, each leg What a fabulous pair of heavily patched, boro, cotton momohiki or work pants. The profusion of patches and exuberant stitching are dense and all. This is a really fantastic aspect to these momohiki, and is what one would hope for in a boro textile, especially one that is intact, as this one is. Momohiki are a form of Japanese work trousers of which there are several. These are wrapped around the waist in a c ...click for details

ca. early twentieth century 67" x 27", 170 cm x 68.5 cm This beautiful, two-panel, indigo dyed cotton boro kaya or mosquito netting is a favorite here at Sri. It is very rustic, its hand loomed cotton very soft from age and wear.
