$835.

It is difficult to imagine that a quilt as fresh and crisp in condition as this Nine Patch is more than 125 years old. It was obviously packed away and never saw the light of day. Beautiful fabrics; wonderful zigzag border makes a great frame. Quilting in off blocks done in the same nine patch design as the primary pattern. Border quilted with diagonal lines. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin; measures 76" x 90".

$675.

Streamlined, perhaps original pattern that I have termed Bricks, for want of a more proper name. Wonderfully abstract in its simplicity. Nicely quilted including concentric half circles in the border that are a terrific contrast to the geometry of the rest of the quilting as well as the pieced pattern. Measures 40" x 55"; excellent condition. Maryland origin.

$795.

Very pleasing, unlikely combination of colors used to make this equally unlikely combination of quilt patterns - Irish Chain with Stars. Thumbnail photos clearly show how the placement of fabrics creates more patterns than a traditional Irish Chain. Professionally laundered; excellent condition. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1910 with some late 19th century fabrics. Measures 73" x 88".

$1650.

This unusual quilt is closest to the Dove in the Window or Goose Tracks patterns. Well made with a terrific, whimsical swag border. The soft blue calico background beautifully sets off the pink and green. Professionally laundered; excellent condition. Measures 82" x 88"; circa 1860. Pennsylvania origin.

$2400.

Dramatic Lone Star quilt (aka Star of Bethlehem) with the most unusual of background fabrics. It's a print I've never seen before that has the profile of a woman. It may be earlier than the calicoes of the star. Unwashed condition. Some oxidation to the solid orange fabric. Measures 100" square, unusually large for the 1870's when it was made. Pennsylvania origin.

Wonderful checkerboard type geometric pattern hooked rug. Great use of lights, darks and variegation. Beautiful shade of blue not often seen in such generous amounts in this type of rug. Measures 28" x 42 1/2": wool. Circa 1920 with an earlier checked cotton backing. Excellent condition.

$2800.

Fabulous abstracted version of a House Hooked Rug. The entrance to the path looks like an upside down heart. Perhaps it was a sweethearts cottage? Great borders make the entire composition varied, unusual end eye catching. Professionally cleaned and restored on edges. Mounted on stretcher that measures 27" x 40". Primarily cotton with some wool. Circa 1900; Maryland origin.
