Crisp and fresh looking Ocean Waves Quilt in the ideal shade of blue. Tightly quilted; excellent condition. Measures 68" x 72". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1920. Blue is a much softer tone than appears on my monitor. It is not royal blue but closer to cornflower.
Exquisitely miniaturized Evening Stars Quilt in which each star block measures just 2 1/4" to a side. Beautifully planned to create diagonal lines of color. Each of the borders is quilted with a different pattern, beginning with hearts in the chocolate brown. Mint, unwashed condition. Measures 84" square. Oley, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.
Unusually elegant 1920's version of a Whig Rose (aka California Rose or Democratic Rose) quilt pattern. Elaborate quilting includes wreaths around alternate blocks. Done on a pale ecru, cotton sateen ground. Excellent, unwashed condition. Measures 86" x 98". The backing is the darker pink shade making this equally usable on the reverse as a whole cloth quilt.
Diamonds within diamonds most resemble the Eye of God in this unusual quilt pattern. Greek key is a brilliant choice of border for this bold design. What is most surprising is that the entire quilt is made of 1 1/2" squares; there are no strips of fabric. Well planned with color placement of the diamond outlines making for a symmetrical pattern. I have searched pattern books as well as my recollection and have not seen this design. It is closest to the obscure pattern called Night and Day. What appears initially to be a straightforward pattern is actually more complex. The white blocks have what look like squares on point overlapping background squares. Skillfully carved bowl and pitcher on an Empire stand that is remarkable because it is all made of one piece of wood. Pitcher is attached to the table base. The bowl is free standing but is too large to fall off the table. Measures 5 3/4" tall and 2 5/8" wide. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1890.
Handmade foot stool on which is painted the biblical proverb "With All Thy Getting Get Understanding". Stool measures 8" tall; 14 1/4" wide and 7" deep. Nice cutouts on the canted legs. Good wear to the top of the stool. Circa 1900.
Floral applique crib quilt in the traditional red and green so popular in the late 19th century. Dated on the reverse "13 Aug. 1868". Professionally laundered and in pristine condition. Measures 41" x 48". In the four corners of each floral block are hearts in the quilting. Clearly, this was made as a loving gift. Olean, New York origin.

Original pattern appliqued quilt that can be most closely named Crossed Tulips. The primary pattern has four flowers coming from a central shape. A secondary pattern is created by the meeting of four tulips in the off blocks. Nicely quilted in cross hatch pattern. Framed by a swag and bow border on two sides and double rows of undulating lines on the opposing sides. Very good, unwashed condition with several very light smudges. Measures 79" x 94"; circa 1850.
