This exuberant applique Floral Wreaths quilt is as fine as it is bold. The quilting is excellent with the date 1862 and a name quilted in the center. The first name seems to be Martha but I am not able to decipher the last. The undulating leaves and swag and tassel border make the whole especially graceful. The orange color is not as bright as appears on my monitor. Measurements are 76" x 78"; Ohio origin.
This is an early and unusual quilt combining LeMoyne Stars and Tulip patterns. It is made with a wonderful array of early 19th century fabrics. The tan sashing was the perfect color choice to blend with the blues; browns and pinks of the quilt. Written in one of the pink tulip blocks is the inked signature of C.E. Cronkite who may have been the maker.
Opposing top and bottom corners are variations of the primary stars.
Measurements are 75" x 88".

This Log Cabin Crib Quilt is wonderfully graphic and unusual in the overall pattern. It is well quilted with a cable pattern in the triple border. Condition is excellent with the exception of two tiny darned spots in the brown border. Both are visible only with close examination. Measurements are 39" square; Pennsylvania origin. Made circa 1880.
This unique Sampler Quilt has both traditional and original blocks, many with hearts as an indication of the affection with which it was made. Written in ink it says "Presented by Lydia H Rounsavell April 5th, 1846". Several other blocks have inked signatures and the date 1845. Unfortunately, we do not know the occasion or for whom it was made. The good news is that it has been preserved with care and is in excellent condition with colors as vibrant as the day it was made.

This nicely scaled Nine Patch Crib Quilt makes an additional chain pattern giving it lots of diagonal movement. It is quilted with diagonal lines that echo the chain pattern. It is mounted on a stretcher measuring 33" x 42 1/2" and can be hung equally well in either direction. Circa 1880.
This densely pieced quilt combines the patterns of Ocean Waves with Bowtie or Hourglass in the center of each block. Larger blocks for the border continue the use of triangles. It is nicely quilted and in excellent condition. Professionally laundered. The small size makes this a wonderful wall hanging. It measures 65" x 76". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880.
This Mathematical Star Quilt is extraordinary for both its design and techniques. It combines the pieced work star with chintz applique (broderie perse) and trapunto quilting. All could not be more finely done. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in pristine condition. Made in Baltimore; circa 1830. It is a true masterpiece of the quilter's art. Measurements are 90" square.
This lovely Baskets Quilt has several wonderful features. It is beautifully quilted with a variety of patterns. The shape of the baskets is original and very graceful. Finally, it is what many would consider to be the ideal shade of blue. Condition is excellent. Measurements are 80" square. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1920's.
This is a particularly bold and dynamic Feathered Stars Quilt. It has very fine quilting with wreaths in the white blocks and a graceful feather throughout the border. In tiny, tiny embroidered stitches is written "Rebecca Spangler August 21". Unfortunately, Rebecca did not include the year. It is probably the day, though, that she proudly completed this outstanding quilt.
Measurements are 96" x 100"; excellent condition.
