$3800.

This wonderfully striking crib quilt is best described as a take off of an Ocean Waves pattern. It is made with a lovely scattering of light and dark fabrics that are symmetrically placed in the center. The larger triangles, separated with bold strokes of red, are the ultimate border. Signed on the back is the name Paul. Unfortunately, we will never know whether he was the maker or the recipient. Measures 36" x 42". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880. Excellent condition.

This charming One Patch Doll Quilt was either the practice piece of a child or the work of a mother whose good intentions exceeded her skill. I believe it was meant to be a One Patch with all equal squares. Overall, it does "read" like a checkerboard pattern but in fact, some of the blue striped blocks are elongated rectangles (one in a different direction than the others) and some of the red blocks are narrowed. It is hand quilted in brown thread. Measures 16 1/2" square. There i ...click for details

$1175.

This Irish Chain Crib Quilt is a wonderful miniature quilt. The pieces are small and the quilted vine in the outer border is a nicely scaled down version of what one would expect in a full size quilt. The inner zigzag border is an ideal frame. There is slight fraying on the binding but no other condition apologies. The quilt measures 29" x 39".

$1075.

This Ohio Amish One Patch Quilt was made for a daybed but in Amish terms, is referred to as a hired man's quilt. It measures 35" x 68 1/2". This unusual size could be a wonderful wall hanging used vertically in a stairwell or horizontally over a bed or mantel. A star is quilted in each of the one patch blocks and cable quilted in the border. The colors have mellowed; there is slight unevenness in color but not enough to be a detraction. Circa 1920.

$1950.

This Thousand Pyramids Ohio Amish Crib Quilt has a wonderful arrangement of light and dark fabrics. The light blues are well placed to add to the overall diagonal pattern. Several black fabrics are used. Two of the black triangles are thin but intact. There are no other condition issues. The border is quilted with diagonal lines and the interior with squares on point. Made circa 1920. Measures 29" x 32". This is a terrific example of an Amish crib quilt and easy to hang in many spaces.

The maker of this quilt took liberties with the traditional Wandering Foot pattern giving the design lots of movement. Leaves and Four Patches connect the blocks creating an entirely new diagonal pattern. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is crisp and spotlessly clean. It is from New York State; made in the 1880's. Measures 72" x 82".

$6800.

This elegant Birds in the Air Quilt is one of the finest examples I have seen. It is all made of one beautiful and unusual printed fabric alternating with solid white. The quilting is excellent with a lovely meandering vine throughout the border. The scalloped and appliqued border is a most unusual treatment. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in pristine condition. It measures 96" x 100", ideal for either a queen or king size bed. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1850.

$595.

This traditional Chimney Sweep (aka Album Patch) quilt is done in a nice variety of printed fabrics with the red center as the only solid color. Pinks are placed symmetrically around the red center and in all four corners indicative of the careful planning with which this was made. Half blocks are used on all sides to create a nice inner frame. The quilt measures 80" square. Several very light smudges but essentially very clean with strong fabrics. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.
