Beautifully toned Lancaster County Amish Sunshine and Shadows quilt done with every attention to detail. Finely quilted with classic patterns of feathering in the outer border and "pumpkin seeds" in the inner border. Pristine condition. Made with a variety of fabrics including wool; cotton and crepe. Measures 80" square; circa 1930. Darker bottom is a result of uneven lighting; it is not so on the quilt.
This is a rather amazing pair of quilts telling the nursery rhyme of Jack and Jill. They are unusual in several ways. Most exceptional is that they are made entirely of one inch squares. The white background is entirely pieced. Rarely does one find pieced lettering on a quilt. They are in pristine, unwashed condition, dating to the 1930's. Measurements are 68" x 84"; perfect for either a girl or boy.
Charming and cheerful Baskets of Flowers Quilt. The baskets are intricately made of of alternating peach and green triangles. Nicely quilted with patterns repeating the floral motifs of the applique. Excellent condition. Measures 58" x 74"; circa 1930.
This is one of the smallest doll quilts I've seen. It was most likely made for use in a doll house. It measures 4 1/2" x 5 1/2"; done all of cotton ginghams. The colors are well place to give this little gem a nice abstract quality in addition to the One Patch pattern. Excellent condition. Machine quilted around the edge; circa 1940.
Who has ever seen Mickey Mouse as a hooked chair cushion? He couldn't be cuter. The tapering on the top leads me to believe this was made as a chair pad but it can just as easily be wall mounted. Measures 14 1/4" at its widest and 14 1/4" tall. Has an old, well done repair on the back. Made of wool with a cotton twill binding. Circa 1930; found in Maine.
Charming Pot of Flowers Hooked Rug that is simultaneously literal and abstract. Excellent condition; measures 11 1/2" X 17 1/2". Circa 1930. Would make either a lovely table mat or wall hanging.
Cotton Crazy Stars Quilt with a nice variety of 1930's fabrics. Excellent condition; sturdy weight. Quilted with diamonds in the body of the quilt and a floral pattern in the border. Measures 81" square. Pennsylvania origin. Colors are softer than on my monitor.
Unusual variation of a Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Amish Nine Patch Quilt. The blocks are actually the same throughout, but the arrangement of colors gives the center grouping an entirely different appearance. Floral quilting in the border typical of the 1930's. Made mostly of wools with a cotton back. Very good condition; has a hint of a faded line visible in middle thumbnail photo but no other condition flaws. Measures 74" x 81".
Concentric Frames hooked and clipped rug. Made with a huge variety of solid and printed, cotton and wool fabrics. Measures 32" x 40"; excellent condition. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1930 ( with many earlier fabrics as well).
Charming Crib Quilt with Boys and Girls bearing posies. The girls very much resemble Sunbonnet Sue. Clothing is well detailed. Clever placement of red at the intersections of the chain to form Nine Patch blocks. Excellent condition; circa 1930. Pennsylvania origin; measures
46" x 62".
