Bold pair of appliqued pillow cases from Rarotonga, one of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. Fascinating to see the similarity with something that could have been made across the world in the United States in the same time period.
Unwashed condition. Measure 27 3/4" x 20" including edging. Several different embroidery patterns in shaded tones embellish the applique. Circa 1970; Rarotonga.
Crisp and unwashed Hourglass (aka Bow Tie) quilt in typically late 19th century calico prints. Wonderful small scale to the blocks; each is
3 1/2" square. Lights and darks give a crisscross effect with lots of movement. Measures 77 " square. Frederick County, Maryland origin; circa 1880.

Large serving spoon measures 11 1/4" long. Hallmark dates it to 1949 - 56.
Small ladle is 6 3/4" long. Rope twist on silver part of handle. Hand hammering visible on inside of bowl. 1940 - 46 hallmark.
Handsome sterling silver American bowl from the Kalo Shop in Chicago. Dated May 22, 1937 with two sets of initials indicating it was most likely a wedding gift. Measures 6 7/8 in diameter at top of rim. Excellent condition; marks on bottom are sticky residue from felt protectors. Can be removed with some elbow grease.
Cleverly made sterling silver choker by Sigfrido Pineda who has designed since the 1950's as Sigi. Hinges make it very easy to get in and out of.

Finely woven Navaho pictorial rug that is simultaneously detailed and streamlined. Subtle color change shows a corral fence in the distance. Mesas are wonderfully abstracted into geometric forms. Rich, warm colors with punchy red flowers. Measures 32 1/2" wide and 34" tall. Circa 1930; excellent condition.
Wild Goose Chase Quilt done with wonderful soft tone chambray cottons. The geese (triangles) and the bars are a slightly different fabric giving a subtle variation to the two. Cable quilting throughout. Excellent condition. Measures 82" x 84". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1920.
Very striking Baskets quilt made more unusual by the fact that it is also a Charm Quilt, that is, each Basket is made from a different fabric. None are repeated. I have never seen a Charm quilt done in this pattern. Beautiful grouping of fabrics; red diagonal grid is very effective in pulling them all together. Crisp, unwashed condition. Has a small light spot visible in third from last thumbnail photo. Measures 91" square, rather large for the time period. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880.
Chic purse made of woven silver plate by Mexican silver designers, Los Castillo. Measures 8" wide; 6 1/2" tall with shoulder chain of 17 1/2" drop. Needs to be polished but otherwise in perfect condition. Finely woven with each strip just 1/8" wide. Made 1970's.
