Variation of Lemoyne Stars Quilt pattern that may be unique. Central star is surrounded by a half star in each corner. White background is pieced so that the central star is in a square surrounded by a diamond. All done in a wonderful, richly colored plaid fabric. Nicely quilted. Professionally laundered; excellent condition. Some staining on back but none on the front. Measures 73" x 78". Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.
This quilt is the fraternal twin of the Basket Weave Log Cabin Item #809351. There is the slightest variation in color tone but essentially, they are a pair. Both have same plaid binding but different backs. This is also in mint condition; lightweight wools. Measures 80"square. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.

Somerset County, Pennsylvania Amish Concentric Squares Quilt - or is it Josef Albers? This wonderfully direct homage to the square preceded similar paintings by the famed artist. Heavy, fuzzy wool fabrics in deep, rich colors. Borders on two sides are interesting irregular rectangles. Measures 68" x 80".
Unusual Basket Weave Log Cabin Quilt in lightweight wools. Solid red centers give additional zing to this pattern with lots of diagonal movement. Courthouse Steps Log Cabin made most unusual by the placement of colors. Brown calico background richly offsets the variety of additional prints. Reversible Pillow Case with the primary side of Four Stars. Fabrics are from the late 19th century. Center of each star has embroidered detail in wool. Back side is a One Patch combination of fabrics that date closer to the turn of the century.
