A very fine figure of Amitayus.The buddha of merit,long life and wisdom.He is seated in dhyanasana with his hands folded in his lap holding the kalasa,the vessel treasury of all spiritual wealth.Very fine red/brown patina with remains of red pigment and traces of gilding around the head. An enormous, rare and extremely old wood mask of Ravana. He is the 10 headed demon king of Lanka and is the primary antagonist of the great Hindu epic the Ramayana. The mask was cut into 2 parts and fits together with iron spikes. In very good condition with some plaster restoration to 2 noses. South India 16-17th C. 45 inches L. 10 inches W.
