$95.00

This extremely rare, Platt + Munk Company, "Story Friends Stick 'em Book" is copyrighted 1937.

This rarely found activity book contains a single, black and white page devoted to each of the following "story book friends": Little Black Sambo, The 3 Little Pigs, The Gingerbread Man, and Peter Rabbit. Along with each story page is an accompanying, brightly-colored, gummed sticker page that children were invited to carefully cut, moisten and then place the pieces onto the proper place on the black and white story page.

The book is in un-played-with condition with the exception of 2 cutouts on the Three Little Pigs sticker page. These 2 pieces were carefully cut and glued on the accompanying story page. All other pages are in mint, original, unused condition!

Brightly colored and rarely found in this condition! A fabulous addition to one's Little Black Sambo collection!

$68.00

Measuring just 5 inches high, this darling piece of Black Memorabilia is as functional as it is cute! Featuring a painted bisque black boy eating the stereotypical watermelon, he sits on a small pin cushion in the shade of a tree constructed of a genuine cotton boll!

The bisque was likely made in Japan and then shipped to the USA for assembly as a Southern States souvenir piece. In wonderful condition with just the tiniest bit of wear to the paint here and there--appears to have never been used as a pincushion.

$245.00

This vintage 1940's, hand-painted, wooden, Black Bellhop Ash Tray stand has fabulous visual appeal!

Measuring 33 inches tall and 12 inches deep at its maximum depth, the bell hop carries a black tray topped off with a hefty aluminum ashtray. The ashtray is large enough to serve as a receptacle for a smaller potted plant, updating the use of this wonderful sculpture to a modern-day purpose!

The bellhop is quite sturdy as it is constructed of 3/4 inch thick wood, and it is well-balanced, as it is mounted upon a 12 inch diameter wooden base of equal thickness. Condition is wonderful with a great aged patina. At some point long ago, the bell hop lost the front half of his foot, but this loss was cleverly repaired so that it is not readily evident. Also cleverly repaired some many, many years ago, is the bellhop's wrist which appears to have been either broken off or cracked, but which has been nicely repaired and repainted.

$265.00

This delightful grouping of 3 black Aunt Jemima composition dolls from the 1930s enjoyed an interesting, more recent life as advertising display pieces in an old Vermont Country store!

The 3 dolls were grouped together in a creative display that supported the sale of Aunt Jemima Pancake products! Their costumes are all identical and were hand-stitched and made especially for the planned Aunt Jemima display.

Each of the dolls remain intact inside an encasement of glue and paper wrapping and are attached to home-made, plaster-of-Paris-based, rectangular platforms. The platforms were created in 1958 as is written on the bottom of each base, and the dolls remained in place until the store closed in the early 1980s.

The large doll is 11 inches tall and evidences age-crackling to her composition face and hands; her right hand is actually missing a small piece of composition (see photo). Black hair peeks out from inside her checkered head scarf framing her sweet face!

The doll on the left side is the shortest, measuring 5 3/4 inches high. She is in fine condition and her eyes are placed in an interesting sideward glance.

The doll on the right measures 6 1/4 inches tall. Her composition is in fine condition with the exception to some small loss at the very top of her head (see photo).

Certainly a very visually appealing trio!

The group of 3 may be purchased for $265, or they may be purchased individually--the small dolls are priced at $80 each, and the large doll is priced at $135. Please email us stating which doll you wish to purchase so that we can customize your order form.

Measuring a very diminutive 2 inches long x 1 ½ inches wide x ½ inch deep, this tiny cardboard match box was made in Sweden in the 1930’s. It still retains its wonderful lithographed image of a Black Man carrying jugs of coconut juice among the palm trees. It is entitled “THE PALMTREE” and is additionally labeled “IMPREGNATED SAFETY MATCH, MADE IN SWEDEN” along the bottom of the litho. It is in near mint condition but no longer contains any matches! The box simply slides out of its cardboard casing with a push of the finger!

$225.00

Measuring 14 inches in height, this vintage 1920's, Mammy Bottle Doll is in well-loved condition, with completely hand-stitched clothing that has been recently laundered and carefully pressed.

Her interesting face is completely hand-stitched and bears a tiny hole in the center of her chin. A similar teeny hole may also be seen (see photo) on her back. Mammy wears a lacy bonnet detailed with tiny pleats and 2 ribbon flowers. Her pink skirt and blouse, also hand-stitched, present in various shades of pink as Mammy's outfit has been subjected to light over the years and is in places, quite faded. Although now clean, Mammy's clothing is speckled here and there with teeny dark pinpoint size spots, most particularly in the bust area. Her white apron is pristine and is accented with a small, non-functional pocket. Her lace bonnet is fragile and must be handled with care as it can tear easily.

Although her bottle frame is covered by a black stocking, the stocking has opened slightly under her skirt revealing her sand-filled milk bottle.

This wonderful, early bottle doll is one of 4 currently offered bottle dolls --- all priced separately.
