Offered for sale is a rare grocery and sundries ledger from the French Brothers Grocers of Hartford, Connecticut. Dated 1881-1882 and packed from front to back with hand-written entries noting the popular food products and sundries of the day. Most of entries include the customer's name, the items purchased, and cost. The leather bound ledger is worn on the exterior, has a good spine and measures 14 inches high x 6 inches wide. This text was purchased at a local estate sale and the owner stated that it came from the French Brothers Grocers. Names noted in the ledger include "G. B. Hubbell, Ed Swift, F.W. Barrows, E.F. Burnham, H. Williams, Silas Chapman, J.P. Brainard, Mrs. Fitch, J. Hale, and 100's more! A neat piece of Connecticut history!

Offered and sold separately are 2 vintage 1940 era drug store medicine advertising signs. The colorful signs are made of a heavy cardboard type material and measure 18" high x 13" wide and are in very good condition. There is unobtrusive expected edge and surface wear commensurate with age and use to both signs. The photo demonstrates the only tear to the "malaria" sign which measures 2 inches next to the "L" on the left edge.Overall the signs can be mounted in a frame of your choice. Early pharmacy signs in this condition and subject matter remain elusive.

Turn back the clock 70 or more years and imagine what similar, vintage placards looked like tacked upon residential or other public buildings! Rather obtrusive but necessary! Flash forward to the present - today, there are specialized masks and hospital rooms designed to quarantine the afflicted.Offered are two different styles of quarantine signs, and each sign is being sold separately. These signs are unused stock from the 1930 - 1940s era, and except for a few edge crimps, are in excellent condition. They measure 14"L x 12"H and are printed on a heavy, bight orange-colored stock. Please note that the colors are even throughout-- the flash has caused the appearance of uneven coloration. Perfect for framing! As each is priced separately (see photos for pricing), please email us stating which item you wish to purchase so that we can customize your order form.
