A wonderful pair of Glover's Veterinary Dog Specific Condition Pill Tins that sport fabulous Art Nouveau graphics! The 2 green colored tins date to the 1910 - 1923 time period and measure about 3.25" long x 2 inches wide. The condition of the first green tin is very good with various surface scratches, areas of unobtrusive paint loss and general wear of a vintage tin. Price: $100.00. The second green tin shows a bit more paint loss especially on the bottom and is a darker shade of green. Price: $80.00. Both covers and hinges work well and both tins are the same size. Made by "METAL ????? CORP. BRKLYN, NY".
Some History: Henry Clay Glover started practicing veterinary medicine sometime prior to 1877. In 1888, his medicines were awarded the medal of superiority by the American Institute of New York. He identified himself as a “Specialist in Canine Diseases". As a personal testimonial, he stated that as of 1897, he had been the Veterinarian to the Westminster Kennel Club for 20 years. The first known address for Dr. Glover is 1293 Broadway, New York City. Tins with this address state “H. Clay Glover,V.S. Prop", and appear to be the earliest-known. Some time prior to 1914, the company moved to 118 West 31st Street. Glover was still sole proprietor, but by 1917 the company was incorporated, and the tins stated “H. Clay Glover Co” while retaining the West 31st Street address. The company moved to 127-129 West 24th Street in 1923.

Offered are 2 Seidlitz tins from the 1930s, each priced separately. Very rarely found, the first tin is a wonderful, R.H. Macy Department Store, New York City, New York, drug store remedy tin once contained the well-known Seidlitz Powders, U.S.P. used to calm gastro-intestinal upsets! The empty tin measures 4.5 inches wide x 3 inches deep x 1.5 inches high, and with the exception of the surface wear as noted in photos, the tin remains in wonderful condition! Quite visually appealing, the Macy's tin is painted a light blue-toned green. The lift-off cover features an attractive, stylized, scroll, cream-colored R.H. Macy label. The base of the tin retains its original dosage and directional label, and as noted, the product was "APPROVED BY MACY'S BUREAU OF STANDARDS"! The Macy tin is priced at $20.00. The second tin is an empty REXALL Seidlitz tin produced by United Drugs, Boston, Massachusetts. The tin has been protected by shrink wrapping which can be removed if desired. The tin measures 4.50 inches wide, 3.25 inches high, and 1.75 inches deep and is in fine condition with the expected superficial surface abrasions. The Rexall tin is priced at $30.00. Two wonderful tins that display very nicely! As each is priced separately (see photos for pricing), please email us stating which item you wish to purchase so that we can customize your order form.

Measuring 15.75 inches long by 4 inches in height, this metal, circa 1930s, brown and yellow, French advertising sign reads: "Defense de Fumer..sans Microphosphate Schloesing." Translated to English, it literally means "No Smoking without Schloesing Microphosphate", clearly an advertisement for a chemical product made by the Schloesing Company. Certainly a conversation piece in very good condition with the expected mild and non-substantial wear here and there to the painted surface. The sign has 4 small holes at each corner for easy mounting.
