This is a most unusual find! Offered is a leather medicine case that contains medicines specific to the maladies of infants or children. Dating to the late 1800s, this case measures 7 x 4 inches and has nine 1.5" bottles, 8 with labels. Each label lists the contents and therapeutic indication, for instance: AMMON. BELLADONNA COMP. (COUGH INFANT) - CAMPHOR - QUININE (CORYZA CHILDREN) - IRON LACTATECOMP. (ANEMIC & RECONSTRUCTIVE TONIC) - ACONITE & BRYONIA COMP. (FEVER & COLDS) etc. The medicines are made by "THE ZEMMER CO. MANUFACTURING CHEMISTS PITTSBURG, PA". In the 20 years specializing in pharmacy and medical antiques I have never seen a cased set of childrens medicines! |
