A rare and fine Kangxi period but Jiajing marked underglaze three colour vase. It was finely painted with the four auspicious mythical beasts or silingshou, which are the dragons, phoenixes, tigers and lions in underglaze blue and red in reserve on a powder blue ground. Although it was recovered from shipwreck, it is in flawless condition. Usually only a very small percentage of items recovered from a shipwreck is in perfect condition. Date: transitional period, 17th century; Height: 20.9cm; Condition: flawless but probably stabilized by chemicals after recovery from shipwreck.
