This is a very fine and rare imperial Daoguang mark and period coral red ground porcelain bowl. It was finely decorated with lotus and hibiscus floral scrolls on a coral red ground by the sgraffiato technique. It has an excellently potted attractive shape. Dating: Daoguang mark and period (AD 1820 - 1850). Condition: one short hairline visible from the inside only and not the outside, minor enamel damage and possible repainting around footrim, probably caused by the fire accident at the Jian Fu Court in Gugong Palace during the early 20th century, absolutely imperial!! Diameter at mouth: 5.1 inches, height: 2.7 inches, diameter at foot: 2.25 inches. A similar pair of Qianlong mark and period bowls (one perfect, one overfired) was sold for $34000 or $17000 each, at Christie's Hong Kong, 28 Nov 06, Lot 1554.
