This is a very rare and fine Ming dynasty, 15th century carved celadon floral garden seat with fitted hard wood stand. It has a finely-potted attractive drum shape. It was beautifully decorated with peony, rose and lotus scrolls around the whole body. The top was decorated with squary grids. The drum studs were moulded into beautiful flower shapes. It was covered overall in a lustrous sea-green glaze. The inside of the seat was completely glazed. Only the foot where the burnt dense ceramic body is exposed was unglazed. Included is a fitted hongmu stand. It is in perfect condition with only very minor glaze wear and degradation. Date: 15th century, Ming dynasty; Height: 14.5 inches without the stand, 23.75 inches with the stand; max. width: 12.75 inches without the stand; Conditions: both the seat and the stand are in perfect conditions without any damages and restorations. However, there are minor glaze wear and degradation, especially at the extremities.
