GENUINE AND RARE CHOSON PERIOD BLUE & RED WATER DROPPER

A very rare Korean Choson dynasty, 19th century underglaze blue and red water dropper. Korean porcelain water droppers are highly celebrated among collectors but there are many modern fakes. This one was collected for decades and is genuine. Chicken-shaped water droppers are very rare. This chicken-shaped water dropper is finely modelled, carved and painted in underglaze blue and red. Both underglaze colours look brilliant which required very skilful firing techniques. Its quality indicates that its origin is probably imperial. Therefore, it is very collectable. Provenance: very old Japanese collection (see item 188); Date: Choson dynasty, 19th century; max. length: 6 1/8 inches; Condition: perfect.
