| A fine large imperial Guangxu mark and period famille rose plate. Finely and thinly potted with flared mouthrim. It was beautifully painted with butterfly and melon patterns, a symbol of fecundity in China and a common motif found on Qing imperial porcelains. It was inscribed in gold with the characters 'Fu, Xi, Shou, Xi', fortune, happiness, longevity, auspicion in roundel reserves. The back was finely decorated with three bats in iron red. The base bears with six character Guangxu imperial mark in iron red. Date: Guangxu period (AD1875 - AD1908); Diameter: 9 5/8 inches; Height: 1 3/4 inches; Condition: pristine. | |||||||||||||||
