A nice large Song dynasty hare's fur black glazed tea bowl, temmoku. It was beautifully decorated with russet markings that run from the mouthrim towards the centre and foot. The russet markings are dense and fine like real hare's fur. The decoration has an attractive silvery and bluish colour. Hare’s fur tea bowl was Northern Song Huizong's favorite tea bowl. Huizong was one of the greatest artists and connoisseurs in Chinese history. He was the designer of Ru wares. You will be immediately fully refunded by Paypal if this bowl is found to be made later than the Song dynasty. Oxford TL tests will promptly be arranged upon request for an additional $650. Provenance: property of a prominent garment manufacturer and fashion designer; Date: Song dynasty (AD960 – AD1279); Diameter: 12.6cm; Height: 7.3cm; Condition: pristine.
