A nice large Song dynasty hare's fur black glazed tea bowl, temmoku. It was finely decorated with slightly greenish russet hare's fur markings. The glaze is thick and smooth and the potting is perfect. Hare’s fur tea bowls were Northern Song Huizong's favorite tea bowl. Huizong was one of the greatest artists and connoisseurs in Chinese history. He was the designer of Ru wares. You will be immediately fully refunded by Paypal if this bowl is found to be made later than the Song dynasty. Oxford TL tests will promptly be arranged upon request for an additional $650. Provenance: property of a prominent garment manufacturer and fashion designer; Date: Song dynasty (AD960 – AD1279); Diameter: 11.8cm; Height: 7.7cm; Condition: one small repaired chip on the rim, a silver or gold metal rim can be added to cover up the chip at a moderate cost.
